Profile Overview
Hachi Joseph Yoshida (born December 18, 1987) is a Japanese singer-songwriter and composer, born in Kyoto and based in Shiga. He began studying piano at a young age and later took up guitar in high school, dedicating himself to writing and composing his own music. His early influences include 1990s J‑POP, particularly artists such as Sharan Q, whose memorable melodies and relatable lyrics continue to inspire Hachi’s work.
Hachi’s style has been profoundly influenced by the rhythm theory of Tsunku, a renowned Japanese music producer. Incorporating these principles, Hachi carefully structures vocal phrasing, rhythm, and lyrical timing, making these elements central to his musical expression.
He has earned recognition through multiple songwriting competitions in Japan and abroad and was awarded in the World Music category of the USA Songwriting Competition, an international award highlighting his ability to connect with audiences beyond language and cultural boundaries.
Hachi’s music has also been commercially featured, appearing in television programs and advertisements, demonstrating both artistic merit and practical appeal.
He released his first full-length album, Hidden Gems Under Japan (2024), showcasing his philosophy and diverse sound across 13 tracks. In addition to original works, Hachi is known for high-quality Japanese covers of Filipino songs, bridging J‑POP and OPM (Original Pilipino Music) sensibilities.
Hachi has made notable appearances on Filipino television, including Eat Bulaga!, and has cultivated a strong international fanbase, with TikTok followers totaling 150,000 and YouTube subscribers around 30,000. His second album, J-POP Meets OPM (2025), further reflects his interest in Filipino music, integrating its melodies and emotional sensibilities without limiting himself to specific artists.
Through these experiences, Hachi has cultivated a unique international presence, recognized for his ability to blend Japanese and Filipino musical elements while maintaining his own artistic voice.
Personal & Creative Character
Beyond his musical achievements, Hachi Joseph Yoshida is recognized for his wide-ranging curiosity, inventive thinking, and experimental approach. His creativity is evident not only in his original compositions and high-quality covers but also in the ways he approaches music with unconventional ideas and imaginative concepts.
Hachi’s ambitions extend beyond his own releases; he aims to compose for artists he admires, including Filipino artists, with the goal of one day being recognized by prestigious awards such as the AWIT Awards, the Philippines’ most prominent music award, and ultimately contributing music that could win a Grammy Award. This combination of vision, empathy, and inventive imagination distinguishes him as a musician whose work resonates across cultures.
Through these projects and perspectives, Hachi demonstrates a unique artistic personality: innovative, playful, and intellectually curious, yet grounded in discipline and a deep commitment to music as both craft and medium of cross-cultural connection.
